Onkyo DX Series Dual Display Netbooks With High Resolution Displays

Onkyo seems to have moved just one step ahead of Kohjinsha by revealing their new DX series netbooks having high resolution dual screens. The Onkyo DX1007A5/ DX1007A5B is coming with 10.1 inch display and at first glance they look identical to Kohjinsha DZ range with the same 10.1 inch wide screen. But Onkyo offers high resolution display panels ( with 1366 x 768) when compared to the Kohjinsha (1024 x 600 ).

In hardware specifications also Onkyo is little better than Kohjinsha. Onkyo offers 2GB RAM and 320GB HDD while Kohjinsha has got a 1GB RAM and 160 GB HDD. The features of Onkyo includes a 1.3MP webcam, Bluetooth 2.1, 3.7-hour battery Wi-Fi (b/g/n) Windows 7 Home Premium and is powered by a 1.6GHz AMD Athlon Neo MV-40 processor.

The device is going to hit the market by the end of december in Japan and carries a price tag of $953 (84,000 Yen, €646, £585).

  1. I loved the idea a small notebook I could carry around to replace my pad of paper, but they all fell short in one area. Battery life. The latest 1000 series Asus netbooks fixed that shortcoming, claiming a 10.5 hour battery life. They way I use it, not much wifi or blue tooth, I’m getting close to that. I would guess that a steady diet of wireless would cut that to 6-7 hours, still long enough to last a day. The keyboard isn’t quite full sized of course, but very easy to get used to. The screen is sharp and bright. It’s fast enough for most non-graphics intensive applications, I’m running OpenOffice, Firefox / Thunderbird, Evernote, Paint.Net and a few other utilities with no issues. The track pad is so-so, for heavy use other than taking notes you’ll want a mouse. I have a tiny Samsung mouse, works great. I’m enjoying it and would buy it again.
